Brewer Owner Keeps The Faith

MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Milwaukee Brewers’ owner Mark Attanasio is not blaming anyone in particular, as his team struggles through a horrendous month. The Brewers dropped to 4-and-16 in May, and 18-and-27 overall, after losing two-of-three to the Los Angeles Dodgers this week at Miller Park.

Attanasio says the Brewers’ problems stretch across the entire team – although he does say the relief pitching has been good. He also says the hitting has been good, but not in key situations – and the starting pitchers have given up too many big innings, as they put the Brewers in a hole in too many games.

Milwaukee had a similar record at this point a year ago. Attanasio said it doesn’t make things better, but he did say that the Brewers recovered last year and got close to making the playoffs. He said a similar turnaround is possible this year, especially after first baseman Corey Hart returns in June from knee surgery.

The owner also pointed out that Aramis Ramirez is getting stronger after a pair of knee injuries – and he believes that second baseman Rickie Weeks and catcher Jonathan Lucroy will hit better. Attanasio said there’s reason for optimism but quote, “I don’t like what I’m seeing right now.”

The Brewers are off today, and will host Pittsburgh tomorrow night.
