LA CROSSE (LEARFIELD-WSAU) U-W La Crosse is hosting the N-C-A-A Division-Three outdoor track meet, which runs from today through Saturday.
McMurry of Abilene Texas is the defending men’s champion. La Crosse was the national runner-up in each of the last two years.
Thurgood Dennis of Eau Claire has the top-seed in both the 100-and-200-meter dashes, with D-Three’s fastest times in both events during the regular season. Dan Sullivan of Stevens Point is seeded first in the 15-hundred. La Crosse has the best time this year in the 400-relay, and Eau Claire is tops in the 16-hundred relay.
Top men’s seeds in field events include Isaac Vazquez of La Crosse in the long jump, and Marcus Smith of Whitewater in the triple jump.
On the women’s side, Wartburg is the defending team titlist. Oshkosh was second in three-of-the-last-four years, and was the national champion in 2011. Christy Cazzola of Oshkosh is the nation’s best times this spring in both the 800 and 15-hundred-meters. La Crosse has the top-seed in the 400-relay.
