TOWN OF ROME, ADAMS CO. (WSAU) - The elected Town Clerk for the Adams County Town of Rome was arrested Thursday after an investigation by the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.
53-year-old Deena Griffin has been referred to the District Attorney with recommended charges of theft, forgery, and misconduct in public office.
Investigators haven’t said exactly what Griffin allegedly did, but they say the investigation has been ongoing for a while now.
The investigation began when other Town of Rome officials became suspicious of Griffin’s actions and asked the sheriff’s department to look into certain issues.
Griffin was booked into the Adams County Jail, but has been released on a $5,000 signature bond.
A search of electronic court records shows no formal charges or future court dates have been scheduled yet. That is not likely to happen until the District Attorney reviews the investigation reports and decides on what, if any, charges to file against Griffin.
