MELROSE, Wis. (WSAU) - A Wisconsin high school senior’s mechanical skills and time have earned him a ten-thousand dollar grand prize. Riley Hanson attends Melrose-Mindoro High School and is a member of their FFA chapter.

Hanson invested over $6,800 dollars plus close to 700 hours of his time into restoring a 1953 Farmall Super “H” tractor. He did the disassembly, all of the repairs, overhauled the engine and drive train, and the painting in a like-new restoration project.

The restored tractor was entered in the 2013 Delo Tractor Restoration Competition, held recently in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the only Wisconsin finalist, and won the competition.

This is the first time in five years a competitor from outside of Texas has taken the top prize.
