MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ) - Some of the same people who brought you President Obama's re-election campaign will do the same for Democrat Mary Burke in her run for Wisconsin governor.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says the former Trek Bicycle executive has brought in Obama advertising director Jim Margolis as her media strategist.
Pete Giangreco, who decided the tone of what voters got in the mail for Obama's first campaign in 2008, will do the same for Burke. He also worked with Democrat Tammy Baldwin's U.S. Senate campaign a year ago. So did Diane Feldman, who did polling for Baldwin. She'll be Burke's pollster as well.
State Democratic Party chairman Mike Tate told the paper that Burke has attracted "the top talent in the country" as she tries to unset Republican Scott Walker in a year from now.
Many Democrats are hoping Burke will have a clear path to her party's nomination against Walker, so they don't have to spend money on a primary challenge.
State Senate Democrat Kathleen Vinehout says she has talked to people who want a choice. She's testing the waters before announcing early next year if she'll run in a primary against Burke
