Marshfield apartment complex vote delayed

Marshfield City Council chambers

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) -- The fate of a high-end apartment complex in Marshfield’s remains in limbo following another heated discussion at Tuesday night’s Common Council meeting.

Marshfield mayor Chris Meyer said the council ended up postponing a final vote on the controversial issue until December 10th when all ten Council members will be present.

At that meeting, council members like Ed Wagner said a compromise between the project developer and neighborhood residents will never be arrived at, and that council members will just need to vote for “what’s in the best interest of the city as a whole.” Wagner added, “I have been torn between wanting so hard for new development to take place while protecting the rights of property owners in Marshfield, and the way that we do that is compromise, but that has been like trying to push a string uphill.”

If built, that complex would be located on a six-acre piece of property just to the east of Wal-mart on Marshfield’s north side.If built, the apartment complex would be located on a six-acre piece of property just to the east of Wal-mart on Marshfield’s north side.
