WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAU) -- Wood County officials say they gave a sheriff's deputy who lost a rifle last week a suspension.
Deputy Matthew Susa served a 12 hour suspension over the weekend according to reports from the department.
The deputy had pulled out his AR-15 rifle at a scene last week, and then forgot it on the trunk of his squad car after leaving the scene. The weapon was in a black case, and was lost in the Vesper area. Lieutenant Shawn Becker says the deputy traveled Highway 186 to Highway HH, then County Highway F towards Wisconsin Rapids.
Someone located the weapon late Thursday afternoon and returned it to a Wood County Sheriff’s Department deputy.
