WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) --
After a delay lasting a week, A Wausau man was sentenced for shooting at two people. Ka Yeng Xiong was in Marathon County court Wednesday afternoon, charged with attempted first degree homicide, recklessly endangering safety, and criminal damage to property.
Judge Greg Grau sentenced Xiong to 40 years, with 28 years behind prison bars and another 12 years on extended release after that.
Prosecutor Ryan Wetzsteon says it was a miracle the bullets Xiong fired into a car and buildings didn’t injure or kill people.
Xiong was supposed to be sentenced last week, but attorneys needed more time to review the presentence investigation with Xiong.
Police say Xiong got into a dispute with a group of people at a tavern in August of 2012. He went home, and the people followed him. Xiong came out of his house with a handgun and started shooting at their vehicle, shattering the glass, and hitting two other homes in the process.
