BRECKENRIDGE, MINNESOTA (KFGO-AM) Authorities say two men under arrest in Breckenridge, Minnesota on burglary charges may be tied to a large scale theft ring. Police Chief Nate Harder made the arrests while off duty. He was in church when the pair raised suspicions after they came inside, looked around and then left. Harder found them outside trying to load a portable generator from a pickup into their car.
An on-going investigation appears to tie the pair to other, similar thefts across the region. He says the theives used a specific method of operation, targeting vehicles parked near churches as well as some residential burglaries, stretching as far away as Brainerd. Harder says so far, there have been no indications the theft ring hit North Dakota.
Facing felony theft and burglary charges are 22-year old Matthew Dehncke of Paynesville, Minnesota and 46-year old Richard Allen of Little Falls, Minnesota.
