FORT LEE, VA (WSAU) -- A central Wisconsin soldier is almost the Army’s Best Warrior. 23-year-old Mitch Fromm from Stevens Point is part of the Army Reserve’s 428th Engineer Company based in Brokaw. He competed in physical and mental performance tests at Fort Lee, Virginia last week, and took second place nationally in the event.

The competition includes physical tests, dealing with medical situations, improvised explosive devices, mastering various weapons, and a written exam.

Fromm graduated from Marathon in 2008 and is currently a UW Stevens Point student majoring in wellness and fitness. When he’s not in class or with the 428th Engineers, he does carpentry work and is a volunteer firefighter for the Plover Fire Department.
