RHINELANDER, Wis. (WSAU) -- Rhinelander police were able to use the freshly fallen snow to track a burglar Tuesday. The officer heard a business alarm at the Verizon Wireless Store on Lincoln Street, and found a smashed window with a man standing inside the store. When the officer ordered the man to stop, he ran out the back door.
No problem. The officer simply followed his footprints through the snow. After several requests to give up, 34-year-old Siphanh Phongsavath finally gave up in the Forest Home Cemetery.
Phongsavath is now in the Oneida County Jail on a $125,000 cash bond. He’ll be back in court December 16th.
Phongsavath has been charged with theft, burglary, criminal damage to property, possession of burglar tools, and resisting an officer. He is behind bars on a $125,000 cash bond and will return to court December 16th.
