STEVENS POINT, Wis (WSAU) - Another one of the three elderly family members accused of cashing a relative’s social security checks for the past thirty plus years was in court Tuesday. Charles T. Jost is accused of working with his sister Delores Disher and brother in law Ronald Disher to cash his mother Marie Jost’s government checks.

Attorney Michael Hughes changed his client’s plea from not guilty to not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect... also known as the insanity plea. Judge Thomas Flugar accepted the plea, and shall appoint a psychiatrist to examine Jost.

The plea change means Jost’s trial for later this month is off, and will likely be early next year. A status conference with attorneys will be held after the mental evaluation on November 11th.

Bond and conditions of bond remain unchanged at $20,000 cash.
