UPDATE: A statement from Everest Metro Police Chief Wally Sparks says a police investigator questioned a 7-year-old child who lived in the home. The child had been playing with a candle and a lighter, and accidentally set the carpeting in the basement on fire.
WESTON, Wis (WSAU) A home was destroyed by fire on Isaiah Street in Weston last night. The homeowner says children playing with matches sparked the fire. That hasn't been confirmed by fire investigators.
The fire was reported around 6:30. Almost the entire home was engulfed as firefighters arrived on the scene. The house is uninhabitable. The Salvation Army is helping the family with temporary shelter.
One adult and three children made it out safely before first responders got there. There were no injuries.
