Apartment issues in Marshfield not settled, council to decide in November

MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - Following a marathon session of Marshfield’s City Plan Commission on Tuesday night, a controversial apartment complex on Marshfield’s north side is being sent to that city’s Common Council for final action in November. The Plan Commission approved a list of conditions for the project, and recommended it to the Common Council contingent on a meeting between the project developer and neighborhood homeowners to “iron out” their differences. Mayor Chris Meyer said the project should ultimately be allowed or rejected based on a clearly defined city policy that can be applied to other similar projects. According to Meyer, “We really need to get a handle on these projects because we have one already under development on the south end of town, and we’re likely to have another on the west side of town coming forward soon. In addition the UW apartments are also going to be under construction in the near future.” The proposed complex would be located just to the East of Wal-Mart in Marshfield.
