MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) - A history exhibit honoring Marshfield’s veterans will be closing, at least for now. Museum director Shirley Mook says the “Lest We Forget” exhibit at the Thomas House History Center will need to close it’s doors after Veterans Day, since the donated space will no longer be available. Mook says, unfortunately, another home for the exhibit has yet to materialize.
The exhibit honors city residents who have served in the military since the Civil War, and has received rave reviews from visitors from across the United States, and even around the world. According to Mook, “Everyone that comes down here is astounded at what we have here, and so we would certainly like as many people as possible to see it intact, as it is.” To accommodate those who wish to see the exhibit before it closes, the hours of operation will be expanded during its final weeks of operation to: Wednesdays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Thursdays 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The exhibit will be open from 12 noon until 4 p.m. on its final day of operation, Veterans Day.
Anyone with ideas for a new home for the museum are asked to call 715-384-5867.
