WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - It’s less than 24-hours until a special rummage sale will benefit some special kids. It’s a Rummage Sale for St. Judes Childrens Hospital, and it’s being hosted by WDEZ Radio in the radio station’s parking lot in downtown Wausau.
Morning hosts Bryan Scott and Nikki Montgomery have been hosting the St. Jude’s Radiothon every winter on Great Country 101.9 WDEZ for several years. Scott says a rummage sale just made sense. “We wanted to do something having to do with rummage sales, because rummage sales are so big in this area during the summer. We decided to feature other people’s rummage sales throughout the summer, and then take some of the stuff that they had from theirs and recycle it to help out the kids at St. Jude.”
Along with the rummage sale items, food and beverages will be available. Scott says all of the proceeds go towards St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital. “We’re going to have lots of food, just by your goodwill donation, too. We’re not charging certain prices for anything (food). Come on out. If you want to get a burger and pay a hundred dollars for a burger or a buck for a burger, whatever, it doesn’t matter. We’re going to have lots of food and a lot of great things out there.”
The radio station’s listeners have been bringing items in for the rummage sale, and it’s kept Bryan and Nikki busy sorting and preparing for the big day. “We’ve got numerous sets of golf clubs, we’ve got handmade items like a handmade children’s picnic table, lots of clothes, baby clothes, lots of kids clothes, toys, we’ve got tools, we’ve got some homemade handmade quilts that somebody made specially for this. I’m telling you, there’s pretty much something for everybody here.”
Scott says it’s all cash and carry, so if you’re interested in the bigger items, be sure and bring your truck or trailer. The WDEZ Rummage Sale for St. Jude’s runs Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Midwest Communications Broadcast Centre, 557 Scott Street in Wausau, on the corner of Scott and 6th Street.
