RIVER FALLS, WI (WTAQ) - Nobody else will live in the home where Aaron Schaffhausen killed his three daughters in River Falls.
The house will be torn down starting next Monday. Anything can be salvaged will be donated to the local Habitat-for-Humanity chapter.
The property itself will later be leveled and sold, with proceeds going to a new playground in River Falls that's honoring the three murdered youngsters.
Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union of St. Paul Minnesota is the current owner of the Schaffhausen property. It submitted the lone bid of $189,000 in a foreclosure sale this year. The credit union says it's been working with the Schaffhausen survivors on a suitable use for the house and the land.
Kate Lee of Affinity Plus said her institution wanted to do the right thing, and they were happy to honor the family's wishes.
Aaron Schaffhausen is serving three life prison terms for killing Amara, Sophie, and Cecilia Schaffhausen just over 14 months ago in River Falls.
