MARSHFIELD, Wis (WSAU) A court hearing is scheduled later this month for the teenager who's accused of trying to rob a 96-year-old store clerk at a neighborhood grocery store in Marshfield. Margaretta Wolf says the suspect pulled a knife. She refused to open the cash register, and the suspect ran off empty-handed.
The suspect is a 13-year-old juvenile whose name is not being released. On Monday 17-year-old Cordell Ellingson made an initial appearance in Wood County court. He's charged with a felony for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He's accused of putting the boy up to the robbery. He was hoping to get gas money.
Ellingson is free on $2,500 signature bond. He'll return to court on September 24 for a probable cause hearing.
