One Direction may take a lot of criticism, but it's nice to know that they've got at least one rock legend in their corner: Elton John.
As the British paper The Mirror reports, on Thursday night, the group's Harry Styles attended Elton's concert at the Roundhouse in London, which was part of the ongoing iTunes Festival. But when Elton thanked him from the stage, calling him "the fabulous Harry Styles," he was greeted with a chorus of boos. An indignant Elton shot back, "I love One Direction. F**k off."
Harry later posted a photo of him and Elton backstage, in which he referred to the singer as "a living legend."
It's not just onstage that Elton supports One Direction -- he also gives them shout-outs in interviews. He told the British paper The Daily Mail, " They are a great British pop band. I just hope they are getting good money because they are working bloody hard. I like their songs."
Elton added, perhaps in recognition of ongoing rumors that one or more of the guys wants to quit for a solo career, "I don’t think they’d work if one of them left, but I just think, 'Good luck to them.’’’
