WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- Marathon County’s Board of Supervisors will soon make the change from paper to electronic documents. The board has already approved a plan to eliminate the printed paper documents, but come July, they will be adjusting to the new way of reviewing their board meeting packets. That’s when county board members will be issued county-owned Ipads and will be able to look up all necessary information online.
The new system will also allow the general public to see everything their elected officials use to decide issues, leading to more transparency and citizen participation. The county also plans to save money since they won’t have to print so many items on paper. Everything will be available anywhere there is Internet access.
Several governmental bodies are already doing this, and it has been highly successful.
