UPDATE: Fire investigators say the cause of the fire was an electrical panel in the furnace room.
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- A fire very early Wednesday morning caused damage to a north Wausau business. Firefighters were called to the State Farm Insurance office at 22102 North 6th Street shortly before 1:00 a.m.
Pat Mocha with the Wausau Fire Department said they were able to control it quickly. "It was about a small to medium fire, and we came on scene and put it out quickly, and we’re not sure what happened.”
Mocha says the outside of the building is in pretty good shape, but the inside has considerable damage. "Yea, there is fire and smoke damage in the building at this time, all over.”
Firefighters are not certain what started the blaze. “We don’t know at this time. It will be investigated this morning.”
Mocha believes the building is still structurally sound and they should be able to repair the damage.
