Minnesota man held on cash bond in drunk driving crash in Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- A Minnesota man remains locked up in Portage County after a weekend crash that injured four people.

37-year-old Miguel Albino Granda of Bloomington, Minnesota had a blood-alcohol level of 0.139 when he crashed his minivan Saturday evening on I-39 near the Business 51 north exit. Granda was driving southbound when he lost control, entered the west ditch, and crashed into several trees. Four of the vehicle’s five occupants were transported to Saint Michael’s Hospital.

Formal charges have not yet been filed, but prosecutors are expected to charge Granda with operating while intoxicated causing great bodily harm. Officers believe both speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

Judge John Finn set bond at $4,000 cash Monday.

Granda remains jailed awaiting a 1:30 p.m. Monday initial appearance in court.
