Money stolen from volunteer fire company's account

TOMAHAWK, Wis (WSAU)  The former treasure of the Little Rice Volunteer Fire Department is accused of theft. Prosecutors say 33-year-old Regina Marie Reinert stole at least $2,300 from the department's checking account over a six-month period.

Some of the money went missing after a telephone transfer from the Little Rice account to her husband's account. Prosecutors believe he had no knowledge of the theft, even though he was a volunteer with the department. Reinert's father is a former chief of the fire company. He also is not accused of any wrongdoing.

Reinert is charged with theft from a business setting, and is now free on $2,500 signature bond. She'll enter a plea during her next court appearance on September 15.
