STANLEY, Wis. (WSAU) -- A one vehicle accident has claimed a life in Clark County. Sheriff Gregory Herrick says the crash happened Saturday evening at 7:50 p.m. on Copenhaver Avenue near Broek Road southeast of Stanley.
Herrick says the vehicle was northbound cresting a hill when it met two all terrain vehicles parked on the shoulder. The driver lost control passing the ATV’s and flipped over several times in the east ditch. 38-year-old Jessie L. Fitzl from Stanley was ejected from the vehicle. Fitzl was taken to Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley, where he died a short time later.
Investigators believe Fitzl was traveling fast and not wearing a seat belt. He was Clark County’s fifth traffic fatality for 2014. The crash remains under investigation.
