ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WSAU) -- The Wisconsin Badger hockey team looked good against the Michigan Wolverines, for about two minutes. Then, the Wolverines struck twice. Fast.
The Wolverines defeated the Badgers 3-1 at Ann Arbor, Michigan Friday evening. The Badgers road woes continued, as Michigan outshot Wisconsin 34 to 27. Joel Rumpel had 31 saves for the Badgers. Michigan had their goals from Tyler Mottev and Alex Guptill in the first period, and then a third from Zach Hyman in the second. Wisconsin got a late goal in the second period as freshman Jedd Soleway put his first puck in the net for the Badgers.
On the bright side, Wisconsin’s penalty kills were 5 for 5, but they couldn’t score in any of their three power plays.
