MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) -- Long time Marshfield alderman Russell Stauber announced that he’ll be stepping down from the Common Council effective immediately due to increased travel associated with his job.
Stauber says he’ll miss representing Marshfield and the 6th aldermanic district. According to Stauber, “If I didn’t have to leave I wouldn’t, but it’s an opportunity I have to take advantage of.”
Stauber is employed as international marketing manager for Marshfield Door Systems, and his new duties will require frequent work in Tampa, Florida.
Mayor Chris Meyer said the Common Council will have the choice to either appoint someone to fill the remaining year of Stauber’s term, or call for a special election.
