WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- Wausau's finance committee is trying to find a cheaper solution for stray cats.
The committee is now looking for bids from people and groups willing to handle the city's stray cats at a cost that's less than the $80,000 that the Marathon County Humane Society is asking for the service.
The city stopped paying for cat services last summer, and has been trying to figure out how to handle the issue ever since. The last day for Wausau's cat services with the humane society was January 14th, and now the city is hoping to save money by going with a cheaper alternative.
The humane society says they can help financially but only if the city comes to a decision by the end of March. The finance committee will look over the bids at their next meeting March 25th.
