MADISON, WI (UWSP-WSAU) – Myranda Tyler (Grafton, WI/Grafton) scored a team-high 18 points and Alyssa Olp (Brillion, WI/Brillion) added 15 as the No. 22 UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team rolled to a 73-55 victory over the Eagles of Edgewood College Thursday evening. A back-and-forth battle for the first 10 minutes of the game, Joann Wolfenberg (Adell, WI/Plymouth Comprehensive) connected on a jumper with 10:44 remaining that put the Pointers in front for good, 16-15. The Pointers closed out the opening stanza on a 24-13 run to build a 12-point edge, 40-28, at the break. Edgewood cut the Pointers lead to single digits early in the second half, but the Pointers again pulled away, leading by as much as 25 down the stretch to cruise to the 73-55 victory. The win makes the Pointers a perfect 8-0 in the all-time series against the Eagles and marks the sixth straight game UWSP has won by double digits. Tyler collected a team-high eight rebounds to go with her 18 points in just 20 minutes of action. Olp chipped in four assists and four rebounds and Wolfenberg finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Kaitlyn Jacobs (New Franken, WI/Green Bay Preble) also collected eight rebounds in the victory. Mariah Hill led the Eagles with 12 points. UW-Stevens Point (8-3) returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 4 with a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match-up against at UW-La Crosse.

The Pointer womens hockey team plays at St. Norbert tonight.
