Brewers back in first place after 5-2 win over Reds

Milwaukee, WI (WSAU-TSN) - Ryan Braun drove in a pair of runs as the Milwaukee Brewers grabbed a 5-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds in the opener of a three-game series.

Carlos Gomez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Jean Segura also scored twice for the Brewers, who moved a half-game ahead of idle St. Louis for first place in the NL Central.

Wily Peralta (11-6) allowed a run on three hits with two walks and five strikeouts over seven innings of work.

Kristopher Negron and Billy Hamilton each hit a solo home run for the Reds, who have dropped their past four games. Mat Latos (2-2) was touched for five runs -- four earned -- on eight hits with three strikeouts in seven innings on the mound.
