Pussy Riot singers seek dismissal of citations against Madison's Solidarity Singers

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - The Solidarity Singers who still face citations for gathering without permits at the State Capitol have picked up an interesting ally.

Members of Moscow's Pussy Riot band have asked Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen to drop the pending cases among the 400-plus protestors arrested last summer.

The Voice Project released a video Tuesday that includes segments of the arrests, and comments from two members of Pussy Riot -- the group that has gained notoriety for protesting oppressive rule from Russia's government, and going to jail for it.

The Solidarity Singers have been protesting Governor Scott Walker and his limits on public union bargaining ever since those limits were passed in 2011.

The state Justice Department did not immediately comment on the video, which you can find here.
