East Football Coach Resigns

WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) Wausau East High School announces the resignation of Scott Mallien as varsity head football coach. Mallien will also resign his position as a social studies teacher. The resignation is effective at the end of the 2013-14 school year. Mallien replaced Steve Jung who resigned after the 2012-13 school year to become the head coach at Neenah High School.

From Athletic Director Greg Harvey:

“Ultimately, the sacrifice that Scott made with regard to coaching football at Wausau East, and being apart from his family in Green Bay, was too much. He had to make a decision that was in the best interest of his family. Scott is an excellent teacher in the classroom and a fantastic football coach. He displayed a great desire to improve our program and our school by helping our entire student body. Wausau East is grateful for all that Scott gave us, and we wish him all the best as he moves on back to Green Bay.”

The search for a new head football coach will begin immediately.
