STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- Plover and Stevens Point might have their first municipal judge by Tuesday night.
The March 24th deadline for applicants has passed, and the Joint Municipal Court Oversight Committee has three qualified applicants to choose from. Their names have not been released, but the applicants had to be attorneys.
The committee meets in open session at 4 o’clock Tuesday at the courthouse. The committee could announce their choice then. Whoever that is would still need approval from both the Plover Village Board and the Stevens Point City Council.
The new municipal judge would likely begin the part-time duties in May or June, and the appointee would have to run for election in the next election cycle.
