MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Almost half of Wisconsinites think our state is one of the best places to live in America -- and only two percent believe it's the worst.
That's according to the Gallup organization, which surveyed 600 Americans by phone during the second half of 2013.
Eight percent of Wisconsinites said their state was the absolute best place to live. That's similar to most other states, where only small percentages say their state is the absolute best or worst.
One of the exceptions is neighboring Illinois -- where a-quarter of residents could not think of a worst place to live. They cited high taxes as one reason, and a lack of trust in their state government.
Gallup also found that 29 percent of Wisconsinites would move elsewhere if they could -- still a bit below the national average of 33 percent.
