MERRILL, Wis (WSAU) - The trial against a Merrill woman accused of the deaths of two friends in a drunken driving rollover is set to start this morning.
25-year-old Ashley Baumann faces nine separate charges including two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. The June 7th 2012 crash killed 33-year-old Jessica Hartwig and 31-year-old Misty Glisch of Merrill. 29-year-old Jerrica Woller survived.
That case has seen a long series of delays and motion hearings, including multiple delays over witnesses, evidence and other technical issues. Jury selection will start this morning and opening statements are possible.
The trial is set to last all week.
