Robert Kraft called Tom Brady a “classy person of the highest integrity”. And while Brady will be able to play on Opening Day after Judge Richard Berman tossed out NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's 4 game suspension of the quarterback, let's wait a few moments before we elevate Brady on too high a pedestal. While I agree this case has been well overblown and doesn't rise to the level of steroid or domestic violence cases that the league has been plagued with…it does speak of breaking the rules for even a perceived competitive advantage. And the Patriots under Bill Belichek and Robert Kraft have been masters of that. Does anybody really believe that Brady didnt know what was going on with the balls? It was Goodell's ineptitude and his belief in his absolute power to punish that has led us here. The judge's ruling doesnt speak on Brady's culpability. It does speak on the NFL commissioner's ham-handed and seemingly arbitrary way of dispensing justice. Brady got away with his chicanery because a judge was so appalled by the NFL's handling of the case. That doesn't make Brady innocent…it just make's Goodell a clown.
Brett Hundley showed last night why he can be a good NFL quarterback. Using his arms and legs he torched the Saints (granted most were back-ups) in a Packer win. Here's hoping that Hundley gets to sit and learn and only play at the end of blow out wins this year and for the forseeable future.
Not a good start for the Big Ten last night. Both Michigan and Minnesota lost close games to start the season. Let's see what Bucky and the rest of the conference can do tomorrow.
I'll be in Appleton tonight as the Wausau East Lumberjacks face the terrors of Appleton West at the Banta Bowl. It will be the 2nd half of our doubleheader after the DC Everest at Wausau West game on Foxsports Radio AM1390 & FM 93. 9 and streamed at foxsportswausau.com
