Bush saw huge commercial success from their debut album
Sixteen Stone
. In 1996 “Machinehead” was the fifth and final single from the 1994 album. The song reached top 5 on the Modern Rock Tracks and Mainstream Rock Tracks charts as well as #43 on the Billboard Hot 100.
“Machinehead” was one of two Bush songs featured in the movie
Fear,
starring Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon, the other was “Comedown.” “Machinehead” was nominated for Best Video from a Film at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards and lost, but then it won the MTV Movie Award for Best Song from a Movie in 1996.
Fun fact: Bush lead singer, Gavin Rossdale's dog, Winston, makes an appearance in the video.
