WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau East Lumberjacks have hired Dan Garrett as their new boys basketball coach. He replaces Troy Pieper who left after one season to take the head coaching job at Merrill High School.
Garrett, who was an East assistant coach from 2008-2016, comes from Wausau Newman High School where he was the head coach from 2016-2019.
In a press release Garrett said he was excited to be part of the rich tradition of Wausau East basketball. He said he had wanted to coach the Lumberjacks since he became an assistant at the school nad was “humbled and grateful” to get the opportunity.
Garrett is a native of Zion, Illinois and has lived in Wausau since 2007 with his wife and two children.
