It’s homecoming week and I think it’s so cool that our elementary school kids get to participate in dress up days just like the high school kids.
My kids dress up days are:
Colors Day – My oldest wore green and my twins had black and white day
Characters Day – They get to dress as their favorite book or movie character
PJ Day – Nothing better than being told you can wear your pajamas to school!
Crazy Socks Day – Luckily mama has some pretty wild socks
School Pride Day – wear school colors or school logo apparel.
Today is characters day. My oldest, Mia, loves Harry Potter. She loves all the movies and has started reading the books with her dad, who is also a huge Harry Potter fan. She has a very cool illustrated version of the book.
The twins’ favorite books are the Piggy and Gerald books by Mo Willems. They love to read the books together where one will read all of Gerald’s lines and the other will read all of Piggy’s and if there’s another character either Dad or I will jump in too. It’s a lot of fun, so the twins wanted to dress as Piggy and Gerald.

Mia had all the elements for her costume so we were good to go. I had to buy pig and elephant ears online for the twins costumes. The ears for piggy came with a tail and a snout and the elephant ears only came with a tail. We had an extra pair of Harry Potter glasses which works great for the Gerald costume because his glasses are black and round too. To complete the costumes we just needed all pink and all gray. Pretty simple, but I think we nailed it.
I can’t wait to see how the girls’ enjoyed their day.
