WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — Nearly 6,000 WPS customers are without power in Wausau and the surrounding areas following Wednesday’s line of severe storms that raced from Northwestern Wisconsin to the Fox Valley.

Thousands were in the dark in Tomahawk as well, many of those customers are back online. A few hundred customers are still without power in the Rib Mountain, Stevens Point, Plover, and Ringle areas.
All told nearly 20,000 WPS customers are still without power. Over a quarter of those are in Wausau.
Some roads were also impassable because of flooding. Riverside Fire District is reporting a flooded roadway on Schofield Avenue under the railroad bridge between Depot Street and Eau Claire Street.
The Pine River Fire Department also reported State Road 64 as impassable for part of Wednesday night. It has since re-opened.
Tornado sirens also fired in Marathon and Portage Counties due to doppler radar indicated rotation in the storm as it moved through the area. So far there are no confirmed reports of a touchdown.
