SHAWANO, WI (WSAU) — Shawano County Sheriff Adam Bieber says he’s not going to enforce the recent COVID-19 vaccine mandate issued by President Biden.
Bieber told WTCH Radio in Shawano that all medical decisions should rest solely with each person, adding that he feels the order goes against America’s founding principles such as the Bill of rights, Declaration of Independence, and legislative process.
He added that similar measures instituted at the state level have been declared unenforceable.
Bieber also encouraged everyone in Shawano County to be the “healthiest version of themselves” by taking precautions and preventative measures to protect themselves.
Biden issued the mandate in August which requires federal employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19 while also encouraging larger companies and businesses to do the same- including all companies with more than 100 employees. The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office employs 118 people.
The President has encouraged OSHA to take action against those employers including fines. The President is scheduled to meet today with some larger corporations such as Microsoft, Walgreens, and Disney to discuss the matter.
