“The Romanov Ransom” by Clive Cussler with Robin Burcell
Series: Fargo Adventures
Published: September 12, 2017 by G.P. Putnam’s Sons
Genres: Adventure, Fiction, Thriller, Mystery, Suspense
As predicted this was a much better book than the last in the Sam and Remi Fargo Adventures series by Clive Cussler. “The Romanov Ransom” takes Sam and Remi on an adventure to find the ransom paid to free the Romanovs from the Bolsheviks, but as history knows, the Romanovs died anyway.
The Nazis stole the treasure from the Russians during World War II to fund a guerrilla faction called the Werewolves to establish the Fourth Reich. But the Romanov Ransom never made it to its destination. The Werewolves are looking for it too and seem to be one step ahead of Sam and Remi, but always on the same path.
Sam and Remi fans are going to like this book. There is a lot of adventure and danger. Not as many puzzles to figure out as previous books, but lots of great clues to lead you through the twists and turns. Finding help in unexpected places Sam and Remi are taking readers on a great ride.
You really can skip right over “Pirate” and jump into this book and not miss a beat. I’d give this book a 4.5/5. I really enjoyed the story and the history and mystery that Sam and Remi encounter in “The Romanov Ransom.”
I have already started the next book “The Gray Ghost,” it’s about a Rolls-Royce prototype that is stolen only to be discovered in the possession of one of Sam’s distant relatives and stolen again right out from under Sam’s nose. So far I like it. I will fill you in on that soon.
I also have another book that I’m going to check out that was sent to me to review. “The Ghostly Tales of the Midwest” is a book full of ghost stories written for children 8 to 12. I will let you know what I think about that one coming up next week.
