Let me start by saying I am a Ravenclaw, as are my twins, my oldest is a Griffindor like her dad and my niece is a Slytherin. We love Harry Potter, the books and the movies so when the opportunity arose to talk to Tom Felton about his new book I couldn’t pass it up!
Tom Felton who played Draco Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” films has a new book available in stores now called “Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard” in which he shares magical moments on set as Draco Malfoy and the challenges of growing up in the spotlight.
In the book Tom shares his experience growing up as part of the wizarding world while also trying to navigate the muggle world. He tells stories from his early days in the business and his “Harry Potter” audition. He reflects on his experiences working with superstars Alan Rickman, Sir Michael Gambon, Dame Maggie Smith, and Ralph Fiennes.
“Tom Felton “Beyond the Wand” is an entertaining, funny and poignant must-read for any “Harry Potter” fan from a man who lived at the center of a huge pop culture phenomenon.” – Grand Central Publishing.
Dave Kallaway and I got a chance to talk with Tom about his new book. He discusses his relationship with the late Robbie Coltrane who played Hagrid and passed away October 14th, 2022 just 4 days before the book release. He also talks about his friendship with Emma Watson and her influence over some of the personal stories included in the book. And how much he appreciates the new fans that weren’t even born when the first film came out. I wish we would have had more time to chat because he was such a nice guy and I had so much more I wanted to ask him. I guess I’ll just have to read the book.
