PHOENIX, AZ (WSAU) — It appears that JJ Watt’s NFL career is nearing its end.
The former Wisconsin Badger sent a Tweet saying he’s played his last home game.
Koa’s first ever NFL game.
My last ever NFL home game.My heart is filled with nothing but love and gratitude. It’s been an absolute honor and a pleasure.
— JJ Watt (@JJWatt) December 27, 2022
The Tweet included a picture of Watt and his wife, Kealia, and their newborn son.
The Pewaukee native was drafted in 2011 and played the bulk of his career with the Houston Texans before signing as a free agent with the Arizona Cardinals in 2021. He was named the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, considered the league’s highest honor, in 2017 for his fundraising efforts following the impact of Hurricane Harvey.
Watt has also had some health issues this year. His heart went into atrial fibrillation early in the season which required doctors to shock it back into rhythm.
The Cardinals finish the season with two road games at the Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers. At 4-11, they have long been eliminated from playoff contention.
This will leave two Watts still playing in the NFL. His younger brothers Derek and TJ both play for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
