MERRILL, WI (WSAU) – A sentence has been handed down in a major case involving the trafficking of methamphetamine.
Nicole Elsholtz, 35, was sentenced to three years in prison by Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson for conspiracy to distribute meth. Elsholtz pleaded guilty to the charge in March 2022.
The government’s investigation revealed that Elsholtz purchased large amounts of meth from co-defendant Levi Bagne between July 2019 and June 2020. Bagne and co-defendant Krista Sparks routinely mailed packages containing methamphetamine from Arizona to co-defendant Cory Freyermuth in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Elsholtz would drive to Oshkosh and get the meth from Freyermuth after Bagne informed her that it had arrived. After returning to Merrill, Elsholtz sold the meth to a number of customers.
