WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – On Friday, March 17, the No. 2 Marquette Golden Eagles will face No. 15 Vermont in the first round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Columbus, Ohio. The game will air on CBS at 1:45 p.m. CST.
The announcement came just hours after Marquette won their first Big East championship on Saturday against Xavier. It also comes after head coach Shaka Smart earned Big East Coach of the Year, and junior Tyler Kolek earned Big East Player of the Year.
The Golden Eagles will be playing in consecutive NCAA Tournaments for the first time since 2013. Last year, eventual tournament runner-up North Carolina defeated MU 95–63.
Marquette’s only previous league tournament title came back in 1997 as a member of Conference USA.
