WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — Wisconsin Rapids residents can begin in-person, absentee voting this week at City Hall.
Tuesday marks two weeks until the April 4th non-partisan election which includes local races, the state Supreme Court election, and some statewide ballot initiatives, which means that early in-person, absentee voting can open for municipalities across the state. Mayor Shane Blaser says his clerk’s office is ready to go for anyone who wants to take advantage of the early voting window.
“Our election workers are amazing people and they do a fine job,” said Blaser. “I think we run a really good election here, and I’m pretty confident [the same can be said] for other municipalities as well,” said Blaser.
He adds that he took election safety and security very seriously during his time as City Clerk. “The last thing any municipal clerk wants to have is anything wrong with an election go under their watch. I think Wisconsin does a pretty good job.”
Blaser says residents should get ready by checking their voter registration status at the myvote.wi.gov website, which is also where they can see what their ballot will look like. There are four Alder seats up for election in Rapids, and only three of those races are contested.
Those looking to vote in person should remember to bring their photo ID. if you’ve been mailed an absentee ballot and would like to drop it off at City Hall you must bring it in yourself, no one can drop it off on your behalf. If you can’t make it to City Hall yourself, the ballot can be returned through the mail.
