WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The second annual Wings Over Wausau airplane show returns to the downtown airport this weekend.
The event begins Friday at 4 PM with planes on display along the runway until 4:30. The planes will then put on an airshow at 5:00.
Live music begins at 7 PM with the Spicy Tie band, and the night closes with a fireworks show at 9:30.
Saturday’s schedule begins with Run The Runway 5K at 8 AM. Gates open at 11 AM with a local airshow at 2:00 and a professional airshow at 5:00. More live music and another fireworks show will cap off the evening.
Daily admission is $5 per person for adults with children 12 and under admitted free.
Local restaurants will also compete for the best chicken wings in Wausau from 11 AM to 2 PM. Tickets for that event are separate from the main show and will be sold both at the gate and online in advance.
Wausau Events has also added a cornhole tournament on Saturday. Each two-person team pays $40, with payouts to the top three places in the upper and lower divisions. Pre-registration through the Scoreholio app is encouraged. In-person registration begins at 11 AM with bags flying at noon.
The show debuted in 2022 as a replacement for Balloon and Ribfest and was met with positive reviews.
