MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The newly crowned Miss Wisconsin is creating history.
Lila Szyryj, age 21, is the first Madison native and Chinese American to win the title. She earned it at the Miss Wisconsin competition on Saturday night. The Albert Kimball Auditorium in Oshkosh served as the site of the pageant.
She received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2022.
Szyryj, who is competing as Miss South Central, will have the chance to compete for the Miss America 2024 crown in addition to receiving a scholarship of $12,500 and other prizes and honors.
Miss Rock River Valley, Mandi Genord finished in second place, and Miss Madison Paige Eide came in third.
