WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – Wausau’s police chief and fire chief both told the Police and Fire Commission that they are leaving their current positions.
The announcements are unrelated.
Police Chief Ben Blevin announced that his last day will be September 1st. He’s leaving to take a job with a local company.
Fire Chief Robert Barteck will stay on through December 15th. He hasn’t announced his future plans.
Wausau’s Police and Fire Commission will hold a special meeting on Friday to consider naming interim leaders for both departments.
Blevin has been Wausau’s police chief since 2018. Barteck has led Wausau’s fire department since 2021.
