Happy FriYAY. It’s my favorite day of the week!! Not just because it’s the start of the weekend, but it’s new music Friday! Not a whole lot going on today…It seems like people are too scared to drop the same day as Taylor. Understandably. Let’s dive into today’s new releases on 10-27-23.
“1989 (Taylor’s Version)“, Taylor Swift. This is her fourth re-recorded album. Taylor strikes again. This time, with the album that changed her career. She went from the country folk type girl to pop princess with the release of this album. We got five new “From the Vault” tracks. “From the Vault” songs are basically Taylor’s signature thing now. She always drops unreleased songs from the ‘era’ associated with the album. One was written by Diane Warren and she wrote the others with Jack Antonoff, who has helped her write every album since the original release of 1989 in 2014.
“Danse Macabre“, Duran Duran. This is their 16th album and this is the cool part. It’s Halloween inspired album that has covers of the Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer” and The Specials’ “Ghost Town”. I wonder if they remade their own song Hungry Like a Wolf?? Werewolves of London?? There’s so many Halloween themed songs they could’ve covered.
